Agere Systems’ Optoelectronics Center is one of the most advanced optoelectronics manufacturing and assembly facilities in the world. The building is 150,990 SF in size including 122,670 SF of manufacturing / assembly space, 18,320 SF of office space and a 10,000 SF mechanical mezzanine.
Building construction is primarily structural steel frame with metal panel exterior for manufacturing space with brickface on the office area. The building is connected to pre-existing facilities by a brick and curved-glass corridor. The entire facility is sprinklered with a three-hour fire separation between office and manufacturing uses. The roof system is hot-applied Siplast. The project had $1.2 million of site work including a 500-space parking lot, new truck turn- around, landscaping and utility trenching.
Utilities are provided via a new underground utility tunnel connector from a pre-existing central utilities plant. A new nitrogen storage facility was also constructed as part of the project.
