Parking Structures

Capital Complex Parking Garage

The new 197,335 SF Capitol Complex Garage, in the heart of the Capitol of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is a 797-space, five-story, precast concrete structure built on caissons and grade beams. The structure is being erected in the City of Harrisburg on a high traffic intersection, thereby eliminating significant staging capabilities. Alexander has maximized the space available while eliminating traffic congestion due to construction activities.

Due to the nature of the caisson drilling, Alexander is highly focused on the safety of the workers on this project. Site and soils conditions necessitated workers being lowered into the drilled holes for the caissons to ensure correct drilling depth before the concrete could be poured. Alexander’s Safety Director and Site Superintendent had primary responsibility for the safety of the operation as well as ensuring the accuracy and quality of the measurements.
