The project consists of a 6 level, 935 car precast concrete addition to the Centerview Parking Garage. The scope of work includes a new elevator, demolition and rework of the existing structure at tie-in locations, and surrounding landscaping. The new construction work includes significant excavation and earth retention, as well as aggregate stone piers and concrete foundations. Various general trades work, as well as plumbing and electrical construction is also required. New grade level parking and site improvements are planned. Crane locations and precast concrete delivery logistics were closely coordinated with Penn State Hershey Medical Center due to Life Lion local helicopter flight patterns and campus traffic. One of the project challenges was expediting underground plumbing and electrical work. These activities were fast-tracked for completion prior to precast concrete erection while construction of concrete footings & foundation walls occurred simultaneously.
