Colleges and Universities
As a means of providing better training facilities for its sports teams, Dickinson college decided to build a new athletic training facility. Located right next to the school’s football field, the new two-story facility is named to honor the tenure of President William G. Durden and his wife Dr. Elke Durden.
In order to begin construction, the existing locker room facility had to be demolished. The bricks from the demolished building were then given to a local company to resell. A tight construction schedule was maintained throughout the entirety of the project so that project completion coincided with students arriving for Spring Semester 2014.
The facility achieved LEED Gold status, due in large part to the use of more recycled/regional materials than originally intended.
