New Queen Street Parking Garage & New Duke Street Medical Office Building
The parking garage scope featured the partial demolition of an existing parking garage and construction of a new garage while the existing garage remained in operation. The new garage is supported by drilled piers and mat foundations. The superstructure is precast concrete with a brick facade. The new garage is eleven levels and provides parking for 1586 cars. The existing garage was reclad with brick to match the new garage so that the façade of the existing and new sections of the garage are consistent.
The Medical Building is a 79,000 sf four-story steel-framed caisson-supported structure with brick exterior. The building provides multiple uses for Lancaster General Hospital. A two story atrium connects the garage and the medical building. A two-level pedestrian bridge connects the garage and medical building to the existing hospital over Duke Street. Significant sitework was also included to create a driveway to the atrium. The site is located between Duke and Queen Streets in downtown Lancaster.
