Lycoming College - Lynn Science Center

The 31,500 square-feet, three-story Lynn Science Center addition connects to the north side of the existing Heim Science Building. It includes space for the school’s Astronomy, Geology and Physics programs.

Features of the addition include:

  • Planetarium
  • Research Laboratory space
  • Classrooms
  • Collaboration and group study spaces
  • Offices and support space
  • Central atrium/public space
  • Site parking, exterior courtyard and campus gateway

A focal point of the center is the new Detwiler Planetarium. The 35-foot-wide domed planetarium uses a digital projection system to recreate the night sky and astronomical bodies and is also used for other discipline lectures.

Construction began in July 2014 and was completed and ready for occupancy in August 2015. All operations of the existing Heim Science Building were maintained during connection/tie-in of the new addition.
