Colleges and Universities
Expansion and renovation of the 64,000 square foot Seegers Union to modernize the College’s dining operations, to enhance the bookstore and retail operations, and to create new program spaces for student activities and organizations.
New dining facilities include a production kitchen and servery, 600-seat main dining hall, a full-service catering kitchen, two loading docks and foodservice management offices. The expansion also created spaces for recreational activities, campus organizations and student lounges.
Retail improvements provided enhanced operational design, increased bookstore storage and better display areas. This enabled improved traffic flow and creates areas for event prep and support. Additional renovations to the existing building included MEP and life safety compliance upgrades.
Seegers Union provides many services and activities that needed to be maintained throughout construction with minimal disruption. Work was carefully planned and coordinated with the College to avoid interruption of service in occupied areas.
This project received an the CMAA (Construction Management Association of America) Mid-Atlantic Chapter Project of the Year Award.
