Healthcare and CCRC
Addition and renovations to existing interior space to house a new linear accelerator and associated support areas. The new LINAC unit expands treatment options for radiation/oncology patients. Added comforts include wall-mounted landscape scenes and ceiling-mounted “skylight” light boxes.
Over 1,000 cubic yards of concrete were used to create the addition’s shell. The poured concrete walls measure up to 7 feet thick and the ceiling is in excess of 2½ feet thick. The 4-inch thick, lead-lined door weighs approximately 2 tons. The addition and renovation were completed adjacent to occupied areas and the hospital remained in full operation at all times. Close coordination was required with the equipment manufacturer, installer, and hospital personnel to accomplish the work with minimal disruption to hospital operations.
