Mount Nittany Health had an urgent need to expand their Physician Group's outreach for providing primary and specialty healthcare within the community. This fast-paced project included the partial conversion of an existing single-story elementary school building, located in Reedsville, PA, into a medical office building.
The existing building, constructed in 1961, required abatement and disposal of existing flooring mastic, curtain wall mastic & glazing, chalkboard mastic, pipe fitting insulation, and boiler. The project included removal and complete replacement of the existing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. Demolition also included removal of the interior finishes, partial removal and re-shoring of select load bearing walls for structural retrofit, and partial removal of interior partitions.
The demolition scope cleared the way to fit out the new interior with the following:
On the exterior, the renovated side of the building received multiple upgrades. Part of the existing ballasted roof system was replaced with a new TPO roofing system. New curtain walls were installed to replace existing classroom storefront windows and clerestory windows as well as provide additional daylight to the new interior. New concrete curbs and sidewalks were installed to facilitate entry to the building from the repaired parking lot surface.
