Conversion of a 46,000 square foot, four-story office building into a charter high school for 400 students. The school features flexible class spaces and open work areas that more closely resemble a high tech workplace than a traditional high school. Facilities include 18 classrooms as well as seminar rooms, science and engineering labs, a multi-function dining hall, and an open-air recreation deck.
This project was undertaken on an aggressive time table, beginning at the conceptual drawing stage, allowing the school to take occupancy of the upper floors while work progressed below. Some work, such as the mechanical and electrical systems replacement, was performed on a design/build basis.
