Healthcare and CCRC
The 4,500 square foot addition and 2,000 square foot renovation of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Muncy Valley Hospital was completed in multiple phases to accommodate resident dining during construction. There were three main project goals: to renovate and expand the Occupational Therapy department, to renovate and expand the resident dining area, and renovate to provide gathering areas for residents, families, and staff. The project created home-like spaces to make residents feel comfortable.
The expanded Occupational Therapy department, located on the 2nd floor of the addition, includes a large physical therapy gym and speech therapy area. This state-of-the-art rehabilitation space provides residents with sophisticated equipment to increase their strength and coordination, while providing a great over-look of the landscaped greenspace adjacent to the hospital. The first floor of the addition has become a upscale dining area for residents to enjoy restaurant style dining. The space includes a food preparation area for ease of serving the residents. The renovated gathering areas include a family gathering room, activity space, and a private dining area. Here, residents will partake in activities to improve their health and quality of life and have private rooms to share with family for special occasions such as holidays and birthdays.
