Construction of a transit complex comprising a 15,000 square foot, high-level platform railroad station and a single-story, 140,000 square foot bus maintenance and storage facility. Scope included new platforms on both sides of the tracks with a pedestrian bridge connecting the two sides; a 1,600-vehicle surface lot; and a steel-framed, insulated precast concrete building for the cleaning, repair, and storage of 80 NJ Transit buses. Site development on the 65-acre site included stormwater management and improvements to county roads.
All construction activities were closely coordinated with both NJ Transit and Amtrak. Due to the proximity of work to active rail lines, the pedestrian bridge was pre-assembled adjacent to the installation area and lifted into place at night, coinciding with Amtrak’s 2-hour track-shutdown window.
