Construction of a two-story, 65,000 square foot museum located in Reservoir Park, at the highest point in Harrisburg. The facility includes exhibit areas to display thousands of Civil War artifacts, storage and exhibit preparation areas, lobby, a gift shop, meeting room, public auditorium, library, food service, and an administrative wing.
Four massive, brick formed columns surround the museum entrance. A grand cupola rises 40 feet in the air. The interior features twin formal, sweeping staircases. The museum is lit with theatrical, exhibit, and house lighting. A state-of-the-art security system features access control, intrusion detection, glass break detection, metal detection, panic/duress stations, internal and external surveillance and recording.
The steel-framed building’s exterior features a brick veneer, plazas, and overlooks. Finishes include carpet, ceramic tile, terrazzo, and vinyl composit tile.
