The new North American Corporate Headquarters features a 362,250 square-foot facility located on 54 acres in Upper Saucon Township, Pa. The project included a 3-story office building, data center, product support facility, auditorium, training rooms, conference rooms, product showrooms, full-service kitchen and cafe.
The complex was constructed of structural steel and cast-in-place reinforced concrete-on-metal deck with raised flooring throughout 90% of the offices to accommodate an under-floor HVAC distribution system. Continuous subfootings extend 100 feet in length and 8-10 feet in depth. The exterior consists of an aluminum and glass curtain wall with an aluminum panelized system. This construction method was selected to facilitate construction on an accelerated schedule, allowing the team to enclose the building more quickly than traditional construction methods. Project design began May 2004. Crews were on site by November 2004 to begin sitework, which involved compaction grouting for earth stabilization under approximately one-third of the site. Construction was completed in modules while design was still ongoing.
