Public television has been a “green” proponent for many years and as PBS 39 in Bethlehem planned their new TV studios and headquarters facility, Sustainability was paramount.
Adjacent to the ArtsQuest Center @ SteelStacks facility, this building has many similar features to it’s neighbor in a brown-field re-development with community connected programs.
High levels of construction waste management, indoor environmental control, recycled and local materials and water saving features are key elements of this project.
TV studios can be large consumers of energy, so mechanical systems have been separated by functional space with demand control ventilation and energy saving features designed into the systems.
LEED 2009 for New Construction was used to guide the process with a basic LEED certification as the primary goal.
