New acute care hospital that will be an approximately 300,000 GSF,4-story building. The new hospital is planned for 44 acres in the heart of one of the fastest growing counties in Pennsyvlania. Hampden Medical Center will feature 108 patient beds, an emergency department, physician offices, various specialty inpatient services, imaging and lab services and complete medical and surgical capabilities.
The hospital will create hundreds of jobs both during construction and once it is operational. Preconstruction commenced immediately upon award in February 2019 and construction started in March 2019 and the project will be substantially complete within 26 months.
The project showcases various Lean construction techniques including The Last PlannerÂ® System, Target Value Delivery, Dashboards, A3s, just-in-time, prefabrication, onboarding, collaboration, Plus/Delta, Gemba Walks, Weekly Work Planning, Daily Huddles, Design-Assist, and more. Drones were used to collect aerial video footage of the site weekly. An off-site prefabrication shop was established to build 100 patient room bathrooms pods that were placed in the building.
