The Pennsylvania State University – Beaver Stadium Expansion

This major renovation and expansion project for the University’s stadium added 11,000 seats on the upper deck of the south end zone. The new three-story structure contains 68 luxury suites, a 28,000-sf club lounge with a view of Mount Nittany, and a sports hall of fame. In addition, a new concourse encircles the stadium at the 60th row.

Construction included locker room upgrades, rest room and concession stand improvements, handicapped access improvements, and the addition of new scoreboards with instant replay capability. At its completion, it was the second largest stadium in the Big Ten Conference and the fourth largest in the nation.

Previous assignments include the north end zone expansion which added 10,000 seats in 1994, and a 16,000-seat addition within the stadium's inner circle in 1978. For this project, the stadium was cut into sections and raised eight feet by hydraulic jacks, then precast concrete seating forms were inserted where a running track previously existed.
