Parking Structures

Philadelphia Zoo Centennial District Intermodal Transportation Center

The construction of this new 4-story, 683-space parking garage, from groundbreaking to owner occupancy, was completed in 7 months. This expeditious delivery was able to be achieved through early engineering, just-in-time delivery of all construction materials and exceptional synchronization. The new structure nearly doubles the amount of parking available at what was a surface parking lot. There is 171,000 s.f. of elevated/precast garage space plus 60,000 s.f. on grade/cast-in-place space. Enhancements improve quality of parking and ease of access for patrons who drive to the Zoo via the Schuylkill Expressway or Girard Avenue. The garage includes a pedestrian ramp and two elevators and incorporates a mural created by the acclaimed Mural Arts Program.

The garage is part of the Centennial District Intermodal Transportation Center which increases parking capacity and improves traffic, safety, storm water management and aesthetics in the area. The new construction uses sustainable landscaping which provides nutritious food for zoo animals.
