Susquehanna University - Business and Communications Center

Apfelbaum Hall, a state of the art teaching facility houses the Sigmund Weis School of Business and the Department of Communications. The facility is steel frame construction with a masonry/metal stud exterior wall.  The design includes multi-level entries to the three-story, 32,600-sf structure.  A central three-story atrium unites these entry points and creates a focal point.  Skylights allow natural light to fill the atrium and adjoining spaces.  Inside, technology is incorporated throughout.  Three multimedia classrooms feature multimedia projectors and PC enabled lecture podiums.  The information infrastructure includes 600 data ports; one for every classroom, lounge, or team-study area.  The team-study areas located along the second and third floor corridors support interaction, research and study.  Two television studios and audio/video editing rooms, and faculty offices are also housed in the building.  Integrated state of the art cabling systems, electronic whiteboards, digital and analog studio control, and switching systems all contribute to the building’s high-technology-friendly environment.  Access ports to the LAN and conveniently located power outlets are provided so that students and faculty can connect throughout the building. This is the second of three projects that Alexander has completed for Susquehanna University.
