Wellspan Health – York Hospital Vascular Suite, Hybrid Operating Room & Continuing Care Nursery

Renovation of existing clinical space on the second floor, adjacent to 18 existing operating rooms and directly above Wellspan’s central laboratory, which oper¬ates 24 hours per day. The project entailed complete demolition of masonry, construction of new floor plans, and replacement of mechanical systems. The main component of the project was creation of a new Vascular Catheterization Lab featuring Phillips C-Arm Imaging equipment and Skytron Procedure Lighting. A central nurse’s station enables line-of-sight contact with 12 prep-recovery rooms and features a patient tracking system that provides vital information to both staff and families. The addition of a new 19th operating room, located between the Vascular Lab and the existing OR suite, serves as a hybrid operating/procedure room and is now the hospital’s largest OR.

Renovation of the Continuing Care Nursery on the fourth floor, adjacent to the existing NICU and above the Med/Surg ICU, involved transformation of a former Maternal Fetal Medicine Suite into a step-down unit designated for newborns requiring less intensive care than the NICU. The nine new basinet stations utilize Lifeline medical gas and equipment rails. Existing mechanical systems were upgraded and reconnected. The entrance vestibule directly off the main corridor features timed hand washing stations. Adjacent office space was renovated to provide close proximity of caregivers and support staff.
